2. Needs Assessment: • Many computer users do not have current anti-virus software on their computers. • One of the reasons is that they don’t want to pay for or can’t afford anti-virus software. Other users do not know that this software needs to be updated very often. • I can teach computer users how to download and install a free anti-virus program that will keep their computer safe.

3. Instructional Goal: After completing this training, users will be able to download and install a free anti-virus program to keep their computer safe.

4. Performance Objectives: After completing this training, learners will be able to: • Use the Internet to legally find and download free anti-virus software. • Install AVG Free on their own computers. • Configure AVG Free to automatically download updates and protect their computers.

6. Learner Characteristics: • This training is created for any user that wants to keep their computer safe from attacks without spending money. • Minimal computer skills are required. If the user can read at junior high level or better and possesses the ability to browse the Internet they are ready for this training.

7. Learning Context: • This training can be used in any setting that has a computer and broadband Internet access. • I have designed this lesson to be taught in a classroom by a college professor or to be followed at home by new computer users.

Instructional Strategies: • Introduction: Using the Internet, the learner will be able to download AVG Free Anti-Virus to protect their computers from Internet threats. • Find and Download AVG Free (a) Point your browser at www.download.com. (b) Search for AVG Free. (c) Download the AVG installer on the desktop. • Install and Configure AVG Free (a) Find and start the installation file. (b) Accept all defaults. (c) Configure AVG to update daily and to scan all incoming and outgoing files.

They will walk the partner through the process to show that they have totally mastered the task.
