  4. Success Rate • 20 candidates / 12 newly elected IEEE Fellows 60% success rate! NPS has always done well; Last year 45% success • For comparison:DEI (slightly smaller than NPS): 1 MAG (slightly larger than NPS): 2 AP (3 times larger than NPS): 13 • Noticed an interesting trend: A significant number of Fellows are not members of any Society. This is not true for NPS

  5. Why did we do so well? • Essential Ingredients: • Phenomenal Candidates • Great Committee • Revamped the Process: • FEC ranked candidates within their TC preserves the TC ranking of candidates • FEC did a 1st cut candidate summary prior to telecon enhances evaluation of candidates in other TCs • Chair used the candidate summary in final evaluation results in specific and powerful summaries to IEEE Fellow Committee

  6. What is next? • Fellow applications due on 1 March 2012 • Committee is in place • The electronic process is pretty good but there are still issues. For instance, many FEC members cannot access the nominations. It takes forever to download them. • NPSS Website needs a revamped Fellow Page • I will work with Dick Kouzes on new page • Stephen Bayne gave me a list of NPSS Fellows • I should do a “Tips for Successful Nominations” like the one Bill Moses did for Awards
