EC INITIATIVES (1) • Lisbon Agenda (2000) Objectives of growth, employment, and making the EU the most knowledge-competitive society by 2010 • eEurope 2002 and 2005, Action Plan (2002 and 2005) An information society for all • Dynamic, secure and accessible services and content (eGovernment, eHealth, eLearning, eBusiness) • Broadband infrastructure and security at competitive prices • Good practice exchange and benchmarking

NATIONAL POLICY FOCUS • IPTS Social Computing Study identified trends in: • Government/eGovernment • Health/eHealth • Inclusion/eInclusion • Learning/eLearning • Trends identified in European and National policy documents • Aim to identify any links between existing policy trends and social computing/Web 2.0

NATIONAL POLICY TRENDS AND OBSERVATIONS • Review of c. 45 trends in 4 domains • Review lead to common observations e.g. • Interoperability, standards and architecture • Privacy and data protection • ICT know-how • Development of technology • Emerging standards and new types of service delivery channel.

German Administration Services Directory DVDV • 2007 Theme 4 @ Effective and efficient administration • Open Internet protocols allowing for cross-organisational, paperless processes • Reduce errors for 5,200 civil registration agencies • €1,3 million saved per month in the City of Bremen on a €300.000 investment over 3 years plus €250,000 in annual operation costs
