  2. Character Development • Sam is very brave , because he ran away from his apartment. He has lost his marbles , because he ran away from New York. He is very smart , because he knows about nature.

  3. SETTING • In the beginning , Sam is in a New York apartment. He soon realized that nobody liked the house , expect for his sister who was to young to know.

  4. Genre • My Side of the Mountain’s genre is realistic fiction. This story could happen in real life, but it didnot really happened.

  5. Point of view • This story’s view is first person. It consists of pronouns such as I, we, and us. Sam Gribley is the main character of this story, and he is narrating it as well.

  6. Plot • Sam is a boy from a New York apartment who runs away because he is cramped up in his apartment. His apartment is too crowded with his large family. He runs away to the woods to get more space, and he meets many people along the way.

  7. Vocabulary 1.Hemlock: An Evergreen tree A Hemlock is a tree that is in the Evergreen group. 2. Moccasins: A soft leather shoe. A shoe slipper that Native Americans made and used 3. Nozzle: A tip on a hose or pipe forming an outlet 4. Glorious: Having or deserving having glory

My aunt’s house has great foundation.

  10. Running Away Humans (often children) abandon their homes. There are many reasons why. Sometimes they don’t like decisions made around the house, but in this case Sam is to crowded. About 100,000 kids run away each year in America. Many people consider running away. Most people decide not to after thinking about it, but many people do.
