TC29/WG34Cutting tool data representation and exchange • Current project is ISO 13399 DIS • DIS is not directly computer processable • Does not meet the needs of the cutting tool industry for: • Flexibility for known future requirements • Connectivity to manufacturing projects in STEP • Computer exchangeable catalogues

Decisions at meeting in Paris, March 2001 • To rework the ISO 13399 to a provide a computer processable form • To use information models based on STEP and Plib • To clarify the boundaries between ISO 13399, ISO 14649 and SC4 standards by liaison with SC4 • To clarify the way in which the standard will deal with 2D and 3D representations of tools

  4. New Developmentsin progress • New structure for 13399 to avoid revision when new tool families are devised • New Part 1 by October 2001 to present overview of the standard • Industry projects to • Develop STEP information models (KTH) • Develop Plib models and data dictionaries (Ferroday) • Connect to manufacturing projects (STEP-NC, MMFSC, etc)
