  2. Situation in Cardiff Met • 14% students Welsh speakers (total 1314) • 320 of these are at least partly studying through Welsh

  3. Coleg funding • 50 students currently • 7+ staff • 2 more appointed

  4. Aspirations of Cardiff Met Target for 2010-14 was to double number of students studying through Welsh (has been met)

  5. Aim of project • examining student learning experience • providing a resource for staff

  6. What were we investigating? • Welsh to English • Welsh to Welsh • Bilingual situations

  7. Students as partners • Providing own perspective • Engaged in decision making • Data collection and analysis

  8. Methodology • Two strands • Three academic schools for each strand • Focus groups recorded and thematically analysed
