  2. Step 1: Finding a Job • There are many ways to find a job: • Newspaper adds • Dropping off resumes to businesses • Looking on-line for job postings • Craigslist: Vancouver, BC • Workopolis: Vancouver, BC • Make sure the postings are legitimate  drive by the business with a guardian

  3. Be Sure to Read the Postings • You can learn a lot about the skills and qualifications an employer is looking for in their prospective employees by reading the job posting • Always read postings careful and extract useful information

  4. Sample Posting • COBS Bread is looking for Sales Assistants to join our team. As a Sales Assistant with COBS Bread you will have previous retail experience. Previous experience in customer service and cash handling is preferred, although it is not essential as we offer full training. • As a Sales Assistant at COBS Bread you will: • Be reliable. • Be a self-motivated and eager to learn. • Be a team player. • Be enthusiastic and energetic. • Have a drive for success and a positive attitude.

  5. Creating a Resume • Should be a maximum of one page at this stage in your life • Should highlight your best attributes, skills, work experience and qualifications • Should be error-free and professional looking • Write your resume to suit the job you are applying for • Highlight specific skills you possess that the employer may be looking for • Discuss any previous experiences that are related to the perspective job

  6. Writing a Cover Letter • Is an additional document sent with you resume to provide additional information about your qualifications • It should discuss why you are suitable for the job and explain the reasons for your interest in the specific organization/company • It should be professionally written and error-free • Should be no longer than 1 page
