Research Governance • Research projects - ethical & R&D approval host trust. • Ethical approval establish project ethically sound. • R&D approval – local issues • Two types research • Large multi-centre research grant funded projects – Integrated Research Application System (IRAS) • Research associated with professional training or academic qualification

Ethical approval • Form via National Research Ethics Site • http://www.nres.npsa.nhs.uk/applications/ • Details local offices advise ethical approval required • Present project Local Ethics Committee meeting • Accept, Reject, Request amendments • Do not underestimate task obtaining ethical approval • Form 65 pages & 2 to 3 months • Role academic supervisor support process • Members KMPT R&D group general guidance ONLY
