3. ABOUTUNIVERSITY SomaiyaVidhyavihar University was set up back in 1959. It is an esteemed private university. Above all, UGC has recognized it. Moreover, NAAC has also graded many of its colleges. Grade A. Shri KJ Somaiya had established the trust by his last name in 1953. Later, this trust took the shape of a University. Besides, now after six decades of its establishment, the university has bloomed into more than 30 institutions. Recently, in 2019, the Maharashtra government allowed the trust to set up its colleges. The courses are available for undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. In total, it offers more than 200 courses. However, all of them are taught in the different constituent colleges of the same university.

In other words, to redeem oneself from poverty, narrow-mindedness, and blindness, one has to only educate him or her. 6. HISTORY Shri K.J. Somaiya founded SomaiyaVidyavihar complex in 1959. Not only, he had a sharp mind for business but also a bent towards serving the society. Moreover, he wanted to give his contribution by shaping the young talents. Therefore, he bought a vast land in Ghatkopar. Thereupon, he founded the K J Somaiya Medical trust, GirivanvasiPragatiMandal and other institutions. Currently, it has become a vast University. Moreover, it offers many courses (undergraduate and postgraduate) in various streams. In total, it has more than 1500 faculties. 

7. INFRASTRUCTURE The infrastructure of a university provides the environment and tools needed for better education. The better the infrastructure, the better are the chances of getting a good quality education. Above all, The University is in Mumbai. It also has a vast campus. In fact, its campus has a size of 65 acres. Moreover, it has more than 30 academic buildings. In total, it has more than four hostels for its students.     Library: SomaiyaVidyavihar University's library is vast. Besides, it has all the modern facilities. For instance, it gives access to many journals, both national and international. Moreover, it has the relevant resource material, books, and industry reports. 8. Hostel and accommodation: For the convenience of the students, the university has two hostels; one for boys and another one for girls. In fact, the boys' hostel is called 'Sandipani,' and the girls' hostel is called 'Maitreyi.' In total, the boys' hostel can accommodate up to 683 boys, whereas the girls' hostel has a capacity for 373 girls. Moreover, hostel rooms are available on a double and triple sharing basis. Filtered water and electricity are available round-the-clock. Hot water is also open. Similarly, the security guards protect and petrol the hostel all the time. Besides, the housekeeping staff maintains the cleanliness of the whole hostel. Sustainable Development: The campus at the SomaiyaVidyavihar University is built around the concept of sustainable development. Moreover, the whole campus is eco-friendly. In total, there are eight compost Medical Facilities: To ensure the health and immunity of the students of SomaiyaVidyavihar University, there are many medical facilities. For instance, it conducts regular medical checkups. Moreover, trained medical staff is also available on the campus round-the-clock. Additionally, the medical center of the university is well-equipped. Finally, medical counselors are available all the time. To sum up, the university has ensured the fulfillment of the medical needs of its students.

10. Mess: For the hostellers dining facility at the mess is available. The mess serves five times a day. Especially, its night mess facility is exceptional and noteworthy. There are also facilities for students who are sick. For instance, if they inform their floor representatives, the mess provides meals like Khichdi. Moreover, the menu is decided by the mess staff in advance for two weeks time period. Sports facility: Engaging in sports is one of the best ways to get physically, mentally as well as emotionally fit. For all the sports facilities like Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Handball, Gymnasium, kabaddi, etc. the university has its own sports academy. Moreover, the students may get coaching for the sports of their liking. However, one needs to pay to play or learn any sport. In other words, high-quality infrastructure is available for sports.

11. COURSES OFFERED Bachelors:SomaiyaVidyavihar University offers various courses for undergraduate students. Moreover, its courses are from different streams. For instance, some of the courses are B.Com, B.Sc, B.Ed, BAF, B.A in Journalism and Mass Communication, B.des, etc.  Masters: The postgraduate master's courses are also available at SomaiyaVidyavihar University.
