3. ABOUTUNIVERSITY Mizoram University is a Central University of India. It was established in the year 2001 by Act no 8 of 2000. The act was passed in 2000; however, the University was created in 2001. The University has consistently improved its ranking over the years. Initially starting operating from rented spaces presently, the University call's a 979-acre land its home. Most of the departments have moved and settled to the permanent campus at Aizawl; however, few departments are yet to shift permanently. The students of the University perform excellently, enabling the University to publish more than 900 books, 1300+ research papers, and numerous journals. The University also operates on a choice-based system (CBCS) which enables students to be more selective about their studies.

5. The Mizoram Peace accord resulted in the formation of the Mizoram University. Mizoram cited a lack of attention by the Government of India, and thus it wanted to break away from India. Soon the Mizoram peace accord was signed, resulting in a halt of violence. The Peace accord paved a path for the establishment of Mizoram University. Prior establishment of Mizoram University NEHU (North-Eastern Hill University) operated in Mizoram. After the establishment of Mizoram University, NEHU's jurisdiction was withdrawn, and the campus and facilities were awarded to Mizoram University. The University was established in July 2001 whence it started operating from rented spaces. Presently the University sits on its permanent grand campus at Aizawl. When NEHU handed over its Mizo operations, Mizoram University received a total of 7 departments already functional and running. This spared Mizoram University from starting from scratch. Mizoram University now operates as many as 45 departments across 9 schools. Lately, the University has jumped ahead of its hilly competitors and fared well on the NIRF ranking. 6. INFRASTRUCTURE The University has a proper infrastructure ecosystem in place. Thus requirements like a medical emergency or physical activity in the gymnasium are all available to the students. Additionally, by and large, the University focuses on improving the infrastructure further to achieve its desired results. Central Library The state-of-the-art Library at MZU owned numerous praises and accolades from NAAC. The library also is renown among the best library in Eastern India. The library is eco-friendly and disabled person friendly too. Thus making the library stand out among its peers. In addition to hosting numerous Journal papers, e-books, and physical books, the library also has a number of modern touches at its disposal. To put it differently, it comes equipped with facilities like RFID, WebOPAC, Self Service check-in, and computerized braille for blind students.

7. Sports There are two major sports events held each year in the university one is the Inter-college Sports event, and the other is the universities own annual sports day event. Besides these events, the University has facilities like a gym, football ground, basketball court, and table tennis court. These facilities, coupled with motivated sportsmanship among the students, have gained University places at the regional and national level. Health Centre The health care system at MZU should dub for a full-blown mini-hospital. Besides having three doctors and four nurses, the medical facility has six more staff operating at different capacities to provide excellent emergency response and quick treatment. Thus the facility provides for mini operations and varied types of tests. Besides all these, the facility also acts as an excellent medic team during sports and events (to treat injuries during Inter College or annual sports).
