  1. Les Pronoms et L’Impératif Telling people what to do.

  2. Dites-le! (Say it!) • When you want to make a command that includes an object pronoun (le, la, les, lui, leur, nous, vous): • You must put the command form of the verb first and the pronoun second. • They are connected by a hyphen. For example…the command form of “Vous le dites” (You say it) is “Dites-le” (Say it).

  3. Dites-moi! (Tell me!) • There’s an additional change for ‘me’ and ‘te’: • These become ‘moi’ and ‘toi’ when they come after a command form verb. • For example, the command form of “Vous me dites la réponse” (You tell me the answer) is “Dites-moi la réponse” (Tell me the answer).

  4. “Ne me dites pas des mensonges” (Don’t tell me lies) • When you want to make a negative command with a pronoun, the “Ne…pas” goes around the verb and the pronoun…and there is NO inversion! • (Because there’s no inversion, ‘me’ and ‘te’ do not change forms) • For example, the command form of “Tu ne te couches pas” (You don’t put yourself to bed) is “Ne te couche pas” (Don’t put yourself to bed).

  5. L’ordre des pronoms…What if there is more than one pronoun in a sentence??? • Souvenez-vous… • When we have multiple pronouns in (non-command) sentences, this is the order of the pronouns:

  6. L’ordre des pronoms…con’t EXCEPTION ALERT!!! The order of pronouns changes when it’s in the command form. Voilà: Le lui moi La leur toi y en Les nous vous
