IW:LEARN trained over 370 people since 1998 through evolving hybrid of face-to-face embedded within limited e-learning

  • Our conclusions:

    • Electronic is media good for networking, supplements -- but not a surrogate for -- face-to-face training.

    • For meaningful learning, IW:LEARN mustinvest more in face-to-face interactions.

  • Emphasize to periodic, demand-driven face-to-face learning + ongoing information sharing

    • Global IW Conferences

    • More regional freshwater & marine workshops

    • Innovation transfer via IW Exp Notes, IW Bridges

    • Outreach (side events, exhibits) at regional meetings
