  2. Why Dalguise? Dalguise is a fantastic forested site overlooking the River Tay, at the heart of Perthshire’s ‘Big Tree Country’. Most of the activities are on-site and are hidden within the woodlands all around the centre – making the most of the forest environment. This excursion will develop team work, self esteem, problem solving, independence, responsibility, provide opportunities for challenge and begin transition activities.

  11. Staying safe! The PGL Code of Practice describes all safety and operational procedures both on and off-site including: sample risk assessments staff to pupil ratios staff vetting and training equipment specifications site security medical cover emergency procedures

FAQ’s Valuable items – best left at home No mobile phones/ handheld games Electrical appliances – hairdryers only Deodorants – roll-on only please (aerosol sets off alarms) Clothing – old, warm & comfortable – (Raft building will require a full change of clothes! There is a drying room available.)

  13. FAQ’s Contacting your child in an emergency. - In school hours call the school on 01786 472809 Out of hours call Dalguise on 03333 212100 or the staff leader mobile on 07470 544317 This info will be on the back of your child’s itinerary which will be sent home this week.

  14. FAQ’s Medication management Please complete the medical info form and bring meds on the day of departure in a freezer bag. All meds to be handed to Mrs Forsyth and should be labelled with dose and frequency. Homesick Children can become homesick but staff are trained to support them & from experience the other children rally around too. In extreme cases we will contact home although experience has shown us that this is rarely necessary.

  15. FAQ’s Photographs Please leave cameras at home. In our experience children stop using them as they are busy taking part. Staff will take photos and these will be shared on our return with children who wish them. Fear of heights / water /darkness All activities are challenge by choice. Children are supported to ‘have a go’ but never forced to participate. If your child would benefit from a nightlight then please bring one.

  16. FAQ’s Snacks Children can visit the onsite shop each day if they wish. Children can also bring snacks with them too. Bedding Please bring a sleeping bag and pillow. If you are unable to supply a sleeping bag let the school know as we may be able to help. Teddy/Mascot All children will be asked to bring a teddy/mascot with them. This may bring some comfort as a reminder of home.

  17. FAQ’s Leaving Day Please arrive at the main entrance between 8:45-9:15am and bring bags into the school hall. Please ensure your child can wheel/carry their bag. Please arrive dressed for Dalguise (casual). Mrs Forsyth will be there to check and collect medication. All children will eat a school lunch on that day as normal. Children will depart form the Community Centre around 1:30pm

  18. FAQ’s Returning Day Children will return to the Community Centre around 3 – 3:15pm. Any changes to that time will be communicated by text. If you have any further questions please pop in or call the school.
