  2. WELCOME! • Walkers and Supporters of the • Second Annual Walk for Education • Sponsored by Chapter 1152 • Can you recognize any of the walkers?

  3. WELCOME Chapter #1152 Southwest Florida (Walkers and supports of the 2nd Annual PDK Chapter 1152 Walk for Education) Front row: Two young members of the College Reach Out Program (CROP). Second row (left to right): two FEA members; Dr. Marcia Greene, Dean of Education, Florida Gulf Coast University; Joseph L. Cofield, Foundation Chairman; three members of Christus Victor Lutheran Church.

  4. WHO BELONGS TO 1152? • WE HAVE: • 79 Professional and Student Members • 19 New Members in 2006-2007 • 2 New Members joined in August, 2007. • OUR GOAL: • Add two new members each month! • WILL YOU HELP RECRUIT THEM?

  5. PDK Chapter #1152Southwest Florida • 74 Professional and student members • 19 New members added in 2006 – 07 • Two new members already added in August 2007 (in current fiscal year) • Goal: To add no less than two new members each month

  6. Purpose for Our Walk for Education Purpose of our Walk for Education • Obtain Scholarship Monies for Future Educators • Increase membership in Chapter 1152 • Raise community awareness about the three goals of PDK International • And those three goals are: • ? • ? • ?

  7. Getting Started • Form Teams • Coordinate with Different Agencies • Establish Meeting Times and Agenda

  8. Coordination and Partnerships • Prizes, gifts, refreshments • Seek potential partnerships with businesses

  9. Publicity and Outreach • Local newspaper, radio, and television • Flyers • Recruitment (school and community)

  10. Who’s in Charge? • Contact PDK International with Insurance Questions • Utilize members and university faculty; assign jobs

  11. Where Are You Headed? Establish a Goal and Make the Goal a Reality

  12. Safety, Clean-Up, and Thank- You • Establish committees for details: safety, clean-up • Send thank-you notes promptly
