  12. Writing Club Meeting Next Meeting is Thursday, February 8th in room 209! The $16 payment for our March field trip is due at the February 8thmeeting, and no later than Feb. 14th, unless students have made other arrangements. Please see Mrs. Wood to pay for the trip.

ACROSS THE STATE, LOCAL SYSTEMS WILL BE EMPOWERED TO HOST THEIR OWN GEORGIA FUTURE EDUCATORS SIGNING DAY. Lucinda Beneventi Findley History Scholarship This scholarship is for seniors who have demonstrated advanced interest in history and are planning to major in or pursue the study of history in a full-time accredited college or university in the United States.   30. Paint Henry Blue A month long initiative to bring awareness and prevention of child abuse to the forefront and to make a positive difference in our community. The Paint Henry Blue Scholarship recipient will receive $500, be a student in the Henry County School District, and currently in foster care. Criteria: -Must be currently in Foster Care -Must be in the 12th grade and enrolled in a Henry County High School -Must be eligible to graduate during the 2017-2018 school year -Must be eligible and planning to attend a college/university in Fall 2018 -Must complete a 250 word essay on Perseverance -Must complete the application -Must be completed and received by February 28 See Mrs. Watts in Counseling Office.

GA Business Aviation Association (GBAA) Scholarships available for the following programs: Professional Flight Aviation Maintenance Aerospace Engineering Air Traffic Control Airport Management Satellite Information Technology Scholarship awards range from $2,000 up to $5,000. www.gbaa.org Deadline to apply is March 1st.

  34. Georgia Farm Bureau 2018 High School Art Contest CONTEST GUIDELINES The contest is open to students in Georgia, grades 9 through 12, for the 2017-2018 academic year. Entries should be submitted to the county Farm Bureau office by the deadline set by the county. Each county will select one winner at the county level and submit it to the state level by the deadline date of Friday, March 9, 2018.   36. Power of Word Scholarship 2018 • The Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Sigma Omega Zeta Chapter is accepting scholarship applications from Clayton or Henry County private and public high school students who will be graduating in the spring of 2018. • Applicants are required to submit the following information in order for their package to be considered: • Completed scholarship application form. • An official high school transcript. • One Letter of Recommendation (Academic, Community or Church related) • A copy of the college or university acceptance letter Applicants must be a female graduating senior from an accredited high school in Clayton or Henry County, GA.   37. Eagles Landing Family Practice offering a new scholarship $1,000 scholarship for a local athlete. ELFP, in conjunction with NFL player Hines Ward and Positive Athlete Georgia, are looking to reward student athletes whose accomplishments extend beyond the ball field with the Eagles Landing Family Practice Family Values Award. Anyone can submit an athlete they think is deserving of the scholarship. Visit www.georgia.positiveathlete.org and select nominate now. The last day to nominate someone is March 16, 2018.

  38. The law firm, Litner + Deganian, will give a $2,500 scholarship to one student who creates the best infographic about the dangers of distracted driving.   47. Colby College Beginning with the Class of 2022, families with a total income of less than $60,000 and assets typical of this income range will have a parent or guardian contribution of $0. This new policy expands upon our longstanding practice of meeting 100 percent of each admitted student’s demonstrated financial need without loans. More than 90 percent of families with a total income of $200,000 or less have qualified for some form of financial assistance in recent years, and our average financial aid award for enrolling students is more than $46,000.In addition to significant financial aid awards, there is no fee to apply and applicants may self-report their ACT, SAT or two SAT Subject Test scores to Colby.   48. Jacksonville State University See Mrs. Watts in the Counseling Office if you are interested in attending Jacksonville State. There are several scholarship opportunities available starting at score of 23 on ACT or 1100 on SAT with a 3.0 grade point average. The scholarship period begins September 1, 2017.
