  1. API WI 2366 Ballot Proposal Add Age Hardened Nickel-based New Group 5 to API 5CRA for Coupling Stock and Accessory Material June 2013

  2. API WI-2366 • NWI proposed API Summer Standards Conference June 2010 to add a new Group 5 to API 5CRA for: • Age hardened nickel based alloys for coupling stock and accessory material. • Alloys Include UNS Numbers: N09925, N09935, N09945, N07718, N07716, N07725. • For harmonization, WI-2366 coordinated and held alternate meetings with the API 6A718 WG to coordinate development of material requirements for age hardened nickel-based alloys.

  3. 50 PARTICIPANTS • USERS – BP, Chevron, ExxonMobil, Hess, Petrobras, Shell, Statoil & Total. • OEMs- BakerHughes, FMC, GE Oil & Gas, Halliburton, Schlumberger, V&M Tube Alloy & Weatherford. • MILLS- ATI, Bohler, Carpenter, Foroni, Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal, Outokumpu VDM, Salzgitter Mannesmann, & Special Metals. • DISTRIBUTORS- Castle Metals, CRA, Energy Alloys, Howco Metals & National Specialty Alloys.

  4. SIGNIFICANT COMPLETED ACTIONS • Melting Method and Chemistry: • Agreed on primary and secondary melt methods. • Chemistry requirements agreed to suppress formation of secondary phases. • Heat Treatment: • Agreement on heat treatment requirements • Monitoring by heat sinks or contact thermocouples. • Microstructure: • Agreement on acceptance criteria regarding secondary phases and continuous grain boundary networks. • Standardization of etchants. • Consensus on inclusion of informative reference photomicrographs.

  5. SIGNIFICANT COMPLETED ACTIONS • Macrostructure: • Agreed acceptance criteria. • Standardization of etchants. • Mechanical Properties: • Developed acceptance criteria. • Standardized on transverse Charpy V-Notch (when size permits). • Developed cross-sectional hardness test hardness requirements.

  6. SIGNIFICANT COMPLETED ACTIONS • NDT: • Consensus for secondary eddy current acceptance criteria. • Agreement for a new eddy current NDT procedure for examining of bar surface using eddy current. It is proposed to include this new procedure in an Annex. • API SC5 RGNDT contributed. • Re-testing: Developed requirements for all test methods.

  7. Propose Draft Ballot • Request permission to move forward to submit proposal for draft ballot to API.
