  9. Director of Inventory & Payroll • All marketers must decide what products (if any) they would like to sell along with their services • Marketers must then find the cheapest prices for these items (first find on VE Network) ONLY if there are not any companies selling what you would like to purchase can you then find a cheap product(s) online and print the prices etc • You must create an ROI presentation to present to the Vice President (since they know all the numbers) to see if they will approve it • You create a purchase order that is specific to the items needed for quantity, description, pricing, delivery and payment terms • You will list the items – all above information in the purchasing ss and once delivered you must give all paperwork to the VP for approval and then will pass on to the Director of Finance • Once all paperwork comes in and the delivery of the product is completed you will then pass on all paperwork (once all has been placed in the ss) to the Vice President for payment (after payment is made by the VP the VP will pass on all paperwork to QuickBooks)

  10. Director--Inventory • You must keep an inventory spreadsheet of all products purchased and sold—so you know when to reorder (this should match your purchase orders)

Accounts Receivable • Marketing • When your customer pays their bill, find the invoice and apply the payment to that account(the invoice could be either with the VP or QuickBooks) • Once you show the invoice paid in your spreadsheet and mark the invoice paid and as of what date (AS SHOWN IN THE VE NETWORK) you must then give to the VP to make sure it is marked paid in their ss and then the VP gives it to QuickBooks for final payment processing

  12. 13. IT—You are to work VERY closely with Marketing and the COO (me) • Research other companies– what is good/bad and most important what is user friendly • One of the most important aspects of web design is to understand the needs of the client and the customers that will be using your website. • When a visitor comes to your website, you want the process to be simple, and to entice them to either visit your business or email you online. It’s an opportunity to transfer information to them. They are there to look at pictures of your inventory and find out more about your business. Don’t take short cuts. • Websites should always have email forms built in so that it’s easy to contact you • The ability to inquire about an individual item (an email form that the visitor can use, directly related to an item that is being inquired about.) • Multiple images of an item (Why should a website have images of products, without offering detailed views?) • Order Forms • Marketing incentives • Pictures/letters of “Kudos” from pleased clients • Latest offerings by the Marketing Department • After the website it built you are to work with the Marketing Department • All surveys are on the website • CREATE OUR WEBSITE COMMERCIAL

  22. Top 5 Resume Tips • Your resume is about your future; not your past. • It is not a confessional. In other words, you don't have to "tell all." Stick to what's relevant and marketable. • Don't write a list of job descriptions. Write achievements! • Promote only skills you enjoy using. Never write about things you don't want to repeat. • Be honest. You can be creative, but don't lie.

  30. Tuesday: Cover Letter Turn in: Rubric, Resume, ALL other documents attached What is a cover letter? Side Note: You might want to get dividers for your 3 ring binder—otherwise you will HAVE to remember the order of things in your binder for grading

  31. Cover Letter What is the purpose of a cover letter? What is included in a cover letter? Cover Letter Format Cover letter presentation matters as much as what you include. When writing cover letters it's important to use a basic font that is easy to read. Depending on the hiring process your cover letter may be viewed in an applicant tracking system or other online hiring system. Those systems work best reading simple text rather than fancy formatting. It's also important for the hiring manager to be able to easily read your resume. Using a basic 12 point font will ensure that your cover letter is easy to read. Basic fonts like Arial, Verdana, and Times New Roman work well. Don't forget to leave space between paragraphs and to proof your letter before you send or upload it. Do remember that your cover letter fonts should match your resume.

  32. Parts of the letter Body of Cover LetterThe body of your cover letter lets the employer know what position you are applying for, why the employer should select you for an interview, and how you will follow-up. First ParagraphThe first paragraph of your letter should include information on why you are writing. Mention the position you are applying for and where you found the job listing. Include the name of a mutual contact, if you have one. Middle Paragraph(s)The next section of your cover letter should describe what you have to offer the employer. Mention specifically how your qualifications match the job you are applying for. Remember, you are interpreting your resume, not repeating it. Final Paragraph Conclude your cover letter by thanking the employer for considering you for the position. Include information on how you will follow-up. Complimentary Close Respectfully yours, Signature Handwritten Signature (for a mailed letter) Typed Signature (Handout example)

It should incorporate socially meaningful and measurable criteria addressing concepts such as the moral/ethical position of the enterprise, public image, the target market, products/services, the geographic domain and expectations of growth and profitability. The intent of the Mission Statement should be the first consideration for any employee who is evaluating a strategic decision. The statement can range from a very simple to a very complex set of ideas • Why does a company use one? • What should it say? • Samples: • Merck, a company that produces pharmaceutical products and provides insurance for pharmacy benefits, publicly states the following values.Corporate social responsibility • Unequivocal excellence in all aspects of the company • Science-based innovation • Honesty & integrity • Profit, but profit from work that benefits humanity • Walt Disney, an entertainment business states their values as follows. No cynicism • Nurturing and promulgation of "wholesome American values" • Creativity, dreams and imagination • Fanatical attention to consistency and detail • Preservation and control of the Disney "magic"

  44. Monday-9/22 • Job Application Process • W-4

  45. Tips for Completing Job Applications: Complete all requested information. Don't leave anything blank. If you don't know the details, bring the application home and return it when it's completed. Write clearly and neatly, using black or blue ink. Check for spelling and grammatical errors. Proofread your job application form before turning it in. List your most recent job first when completing employment information. List your most recent education first. Include vocational schools and training programs as well as college and high school. References don't necessarily have to be professional. If you have volunteered you can use members of the organizations that you have helped or if you are a student use your teachers. In all cases, ask for permission prior to using the person for a reference. Don't forget to sign your application!

  46. Job Application Completing the job application  by signing a job application or acknowledging online that the information in the application is accurate, the candidate is attesting to their job and educational history. This means that you can be denied employment or fired in the future if you aren't truthful about your employment record This is a legal document unlike your resume and cover letter

  47. Completing the W-4 Provide your name, address, and Social Security Number(make it up). Check the box for married or single, depending on your marital status. Calculate how many withholding allowances to claim. For most people, this is the same as the number of personal exemptions they claim on their tax return (see Line 6d on your 1040EZ or 1040). You can also use the IRS Withholding Calculator to calculate your withholding allowances more exactly. We will claim 2 (we live alone and are responsible for ourselves) This will give us more cash in our paychecks If you have more than one job, make sure you claim zero allowances at your second job. Claiming "exempt" is not the same as claiming zero. By claiming zero, the highest amount of tax will be withheld. You are exempt from income tax withholding only if your income for the year will be less than $800. If you are exempt, skip lines 5 and 6, and write "EXEMPT" on line 7. Print, sign, and date the form. Give the W-4 to your employer. They will fill out lines 8, 9, and 10. (Handout W-4) Complete and hand in to be graded along with your job application

  48. Emails and passwords I will give you your email and passwords take out paper to save it on (Keep in your binder) Global – www. wpibpfa.com Xanadu – www.wpibpfb.com And your emails and passwords
