  1. Welcome to Niagara Falls2007 COSCO Annual Meetings Prince Rupert

  2. COSCO Container Lines • COSCO Group is the second largest integrated Shipping company in the world. • COSCO is the fifth largest container carrier in the world. • COSCO calls over 45 ports in 120 countries. COSCO ASIA 10,000 TEUS!

  3. COSCO First to Prince Rupert • August, the cranes arrive, October your cargo will arrive!

  4. Key factors for using Prince Rupert • Expedited Routings – Fastest Asia to NA transit. • Alternatives to existing traditional routings to further increase entries to North America. • COSCO’S attempt to circumvent the infrastructure problems that other carriers are struggling to understand. • Cranes can sustain ships of the 13,000 TEU class. Velocity will rely on rail and terminal. • PR is strictly an Intermodal Terminal. Velocity!

  5. Key factors for using Prince Rupert • EDI capabilities between Terminal, Rail Road and Carrier create fluidity. Presently COSCO is connected to Maher Terminals, and the CNRR so integration of new system will be easier. • As the 1st carrier to commit to Prince Rupert, COSCO was able to negotiate a strong presence that will afford many extra benefits as new capacity comes available. • Simplicity is the concept with using Prince Rupert. Hard to imagine it has taken so long.

  6. Key factors for using Prince Rupert 9. As alternatives are concerned, Prince Rupert and Lazaro Cardenas seem to be the two big locations that Importers are looking at. Reasoning against Lazaro Cardenas: A. Rates to Mexico are greater than IPI to US. B. Mexico’s rail link on the KCS for mid West is no comparison to CN capabilities over PR. C. Transit times, Mexico is traditionally last port call for USWC services, PR is FIRST!

  7. Planned Ports of Call for Prince Rupert

  8. Truck points available via main Rail CY’s Remark: • Indianapolis, IN : Trucking via Chicago • Columbus, OH: Trucking via Detroit • Nashville, TN: Trucking via Memphis • The above three inland points’ Customs Clearance are requested at the transit Rail RAMP respectively
