  1. His Family

  2. Mark 3:31-35 • Jesus defined the family of God to be those who do God’s will. • No disrespect to our biological family, but spiritual family is deeper as it is bound by a choice.

  3. Ephesians 2:19-21 • Entering into Christ is not a solo event, in truth we enter his household. • Being part of the family not only brings blessings but also responsibility as with all families…those include: • Giving • Serving • Financial support • Meeting Needs

  4. 1 John 4:19-20 • The way we treat members of God’s family is the way we treat God! • The people in the church family each carry a portion of God’s Spirit (1 Cor. 6:19-20). Therefore we can not withdraw from them and still be close to God.

  5. Acts 2:42-47 • They behaved like family. The met frequently, loved deeply and shared openly. • They pooled resources to support the work of God (explain the concept of giving contribution). • Malachi 3:6-12, 1 Corinthians 16:1-2, 2 Corinthians 9:6-11

  6. Colossians 1:15-18 • Christ is the head of his family/church. • If we are not attached to the body we can’t be attached to it head (Christ). A person can’t be detached from the body and truly be saved.

  7. 1 Corinthians 12:12-27 • When we are baptized into Christ we are not only saved, but we are added to his body/family. • There are various parts to the body. What do you think you can do to help the family?

  8. Hebrews 10:23-25 • We need to prioritize: the family, its meetings and the encouragement of it members. • We should “spur one another on” to do good. This means we get involved in helping each other grow (Heb 3:12-13…explain discipling)

  9. Conclusions God gives us a family to help us, encourage us and teach us to stay faithful. Do you accept that being a part of His Family is a neccessary part of being saved?
