  1. 5 Myths About Competitive ExamsBusted! “Myths are a waste of time. They prevent progression.” – BarbraStreisand When it comes to competitive exams,a student may pick up any information they receive from seniors, or tutors or their peers. These unreliable and random sources can have both positive and negative effects on one’s preparation. As exams remain a mystery till you are on the battlefield, it is natural for some myths to flow around. Since many aspirants believe in these from the get go, it influences their preparationpattern. Whether it is walking along the footsteps of a scholar or joining the most famous coaching institute, students are often left confused due to these misconceptions surrounding competitiveexams. Making simple things complex will only divert you from your path. In addition to this, the competition can be overwhelming to a point where you feel that you don’t even stand a chance. It might be time that you individualize your approach according to your abilities and strategies. Though there is no doubting the preparation, looking beyond these myths will just increase the benefits you will get from yourpreparation. Myth: Do What the TopperDoes Fact: “Follow the topper” is engraved in the brains since the very beginning of a student’s life, which carries on with them for life. But, the thumb rule is; do not try to copy what others are doing. It is a certainty that no two people are the same. So, while taking tips and suggestions is a good idea; you need to find your own individuality to crack the exams. This will help you in developing successful preparation strategies and make improvements in your current techniques. One size fits all need not always betrue. Myth: Coaching Institutes Are Your OnlySaviour Fact: If you study at coaching institutes, but your self-study isn’t top-notch; it would get you nowhere. Coaching institutes do play an important part, but the discipline and efforts have nothing to do with it. In order to score well, practice cumulative study. Combine what you study from coaching institutes with books, references, online resources and self-studies. In fact, you can clear the exam even without appearing for any coachingclasses. Myth: Cracking The competitive exams isimpossible Fact: Approaching your studies thinking that cracking the entrance exams is impossible, is a negative mindset to begin with. This is the prime myth that needs to be taken down. Undoubtedly, these exams are difficult due to the immense competition, but certainly not impossible. Often, it is believed that exams like JEE or NEETare only a task for an academic topper or a scholar student and not average students. But, it is not true. If others can crack the exam, you can too. This can happen only if you work hard, have enough faith and believe inyourself. Myth: More number of hours = BetterPreparation

  2. Fact: it is not just technically impossible, but impractical to sit with a book for 15 hours straight. It is not the number of hours you put in for your preparation; it is what you do during those hours that determine your success. Though hard work is the key to success, it’s smart work which will get you there. There is no fixed quantum of time one needs to spend for preparing for exams as everyone is different in terms of intelligence andabilities. Myth: It all depends onluck. Fact: This is the most common and illogical myth there is. Aspirants who clear their exams and get selected are able to do so because they believe in hard work and dedication rather thanluck. Leaving everything up to fate without even giving it a try will not lead youanywhere.
