Appearance, habitat & learned/innate behavior • Learned Behavior: • Loves being in high places • When in an open place it runs to hiding • Nocturnal • Innate Behavior: • Eats shedded • skin • Stubborn • Breaks off tail when scared Appearance: • Leopard spotted pattern • Comes in yellow, orange & cream • No little suction cups • Eye lids Habitat: • Desert • Little caves • Dry places • Dark logs

  3. Adaptation #1- Shedding skin Adaptation • Shedding skin • Eats dead skin • After they have a new skin on Benefits: • Helps them take off the skin • Able to hide from predators • Safer

  4. Adaptation #2- claws Adaptation: • Other Geckos have suction cups • Can’t climb up vertical surfaces • No little cup • Sharp small claws • Hidden in foot Benefits: • Run faster • Hiding is easier • More cuts and contusions on prey

  5. Adaptation #3- Ears Adaptation: • Covering over the ears • One on each side of their head • Membrane covers over the ear Benefits: • Picks up vibrations • Helps find food • Lets them know where the predators are • They can hear

  6. What I Learned… • I love leopard geckos • They are interesting reptiles • They can be very hard to take care of • There is a lot more to them than I thought • Everyone should have one!!! Hope this helped
