Background Information • Function created at HL7 Plenary Meeting in San Diego, 1998. • Objectives: • Ensure international requirements for PAFM are included in V2.x and V3. • Ensure that HL7 Standards Documents are internationally comprehendible. • Long term: make HL7 globally applicable. HL7 Int. Committee Meeting - Cleveland 2000

  3. Work Done so far... • Initial focus on V2.4. • Internationalisation of Terms. • PAFM Naming Work Group: to accommodate international person naming requirements (name parts, context, validity time-range, assembly order, etc.) HL7 Int. Committee Meeting - Cleveland 2000

  4. Further Work to be done • Ensure V2.4 international enhancements “survive” the Ballots. • Ensure all international enhancements are included in V3. • Long-term: Harmonise the existing national HL7 variants. HL7 Int. Committee Meeting - Cleveland 2000

Background Information - 1 • “Community-Based Health Services” SIG established at HL7 Plenary Meeting in Atlanta, 1999. • Created out of “Home Health Care” SIG as a result of Australian initiative at 1999 Toronto Meeting and subsequent “Gap Analysis”. HL7 Int. Committee Meeting - Cleveland 2000

  7. Background Information - 2 • Objectives: • Establish which sub-domains to be covered by CBHS SIG. • Identify table values, elements, segments and messages that fulfil CBHS needs. • Ensure requirements are included both in V2.x and V3. HL7 Int. Committee Meeting - Cleveland 2000

Work Done so far... • Scope and Mission updated. • Many sub-domains identified: • Emergency Health, Mental Health, Early-Childhood, Dental Health, etc., etc., ... • Some enhancements identified: • Data type extensions, elements, etc. • Work continues!
