Results group 2Observations.General Evaluation of Roadside Checks.1 – site not dedicated to check, public driving through2 – no facilities for examiners3 – no safety shoes worn by examiners4 – use of flash camera’s around ‘class 3’ tankers!5 – check only looked at ADR, no roadworthiness examinations6 – overall role of Police / who authorised to check vehicles?7 – why 2 inspectors for 1 vehicle8 – is other equipment available

  2. What wrong with roadside checks?Nothing wrong with practice of carrying out checks, only comments with regard to \procedures , equipment, infrastructure and competances.

How to improve1 – site layout (weighing pads?)2 – examine all aspects of vehicle not just ADR3 – have a step by step approach to examinations4 – involvement from all agencies/departments5 – procedures for ‘opening’ seals, many goods vehicles had seals restricting examination 6 – improve layout of check form
