  2. A Little Background… • Migrating to a new email system has been discussed for many years now • The Great Email Crash of 2010 turned discussions into action • Outlook Live has been selected as GCISD’s new email system

  3. New Format • Email will be accessed completely online • Just like Yahoo, Hotmail, Google, or any other web-based email

  4. Accessing the Site • www.outlook.com • Will be added to GCISD Important Websites when the changeover occurs on March 25 • Bookmark at home as well

  5. Logging In • Your email address will remain the same – enter full address (including @gcisd.net) for ID • Enter password • Remember ID ONLY on your teacher station • Click Sign In renee.hodges@gcisd.net

  6. Mailbox View List of messages displayed for folder selected. Creates a new message Reply Forward Reply All Always sign out before closing browser window. Separate inbox/outbox Single-click message to display in reading pane to right; double-click to open in new window. Folders can be created within Inbox Reading Pane displays messages in the same window.

  7. Composing New Messages Click Send when finished Name of person (in district) Click Options for Bcc Beginning of email address (out of district; in contacts) Don’t forget a subject! Full email address (out of district; not in contacts)

  8. What To Do Now • Export contacts from FirstClass (mailing lists cannot be exported) OR • Send an email to your parent lists asking them to respond to the message on Sunday, March 27 • Messages in FirstClass will still be accessible in district for a limited time
