  2. Colossal • Extremely large. • The colossal building was huge

  3. Conflagration • An extensive fire that destroys a great deal of land or property. • The great conflagration burned down 50 states

  4. Contrivance • A thing that is created skillfully and inventively to serve a particular purpose. • Airplanes and cars are a contrivance

  5. Cunning • Skill in achieving one's ends by deceit. • Most felines are considered cunning

  6. Debris • rubble, wreckage, ruins, litter and discarded garbage/refuse/ trash, scattered remains of something destroyed • After 9/11 there was a lot of debris

  7. Disrupted • Interrupt (an event, activity, or process) by causing a disturbance or problem. • The tornado was disrupted in the eye

  8. Flank • the side of either a horse or a military unit • The left flank killed everyone

  9. Lavishly • in a wasteful manner • The united states lavishly used fuel in the 1920’s

  10. Lurid • Very vivid in color, esp. so as to create an unpleasantly harsh or unnatural effect • There are many lurid paintings

  11. Perpendicular • A straight line at an angle of 90° to a given line, plane, or surface • The perpendicular line was used by the math teacher
