Transvaginal ultrasound in pregnancy The transvaginal ultrasound is done using high frequency sound waves that creates the image of internal organs of the pregnant lady as well as the developing foetus. This ultrasound is done using a wand like instrument that is inserted into the vaginal canal, in this type of ultrasound we get a clear view into the uterus and specially early in pregnancy. Transvaginal ultrasound can be done for the variety of purposes that includes early pregnancy confirmation and the due date calculation. Basically the trans vaginal ultrasound is an internal examination which is done trans vaginally that is through the vagina. The other type of ultrasounds use larger wands that is kept on the top of abdomen, but the trans vaginal procedure is done by inserting the wand few inches into the vagina. The trans vaginal ultrasound is best to pick up the images in the early stages of the pregnancy. It provides a better view of the female reproductive organs for observation which includes the uterus, the fallopian tube,  ovaries, cervix and urinary bladder.
