  3. SALARY OF AN IAS OFFICER The Civil Service officer works hard for years and years not for the IAS salary but for the nation. However, these big responsibilities come with great pay too.

  4. The government of India elects a Pay Commission to finalize the salary of central government employees the salary keeps fluctuating according to the economy. However, the salary keeps on increasing with time The 7th Pay Commission was approved by the cabinet on 29th June 2018. Moreover, the IAS officer gets 56,100 as the basic pay at the entry-level. Then 16,500 is the grade pay. Also, the maximum salary of a senior IAS officer is 2,70,000.

  6. NATIONALITY For Indian administrative service, Indian Foreign Service, & Indian Police Service : A candidate must be a citizen of India. For other services : A candidate must be a citizen of India/ Nepal/Bhutan. A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India. or A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

  7. AGE LIMITS You should be at least 21 year of age to sit in the Civil Services Examination. Further, you can give your valid number of attempts till you attain the age of 32 years. (relaxations described below excluded) CATEGORY AGE RELAXATIONS Three years Five years OBC, Defence Services Personnel SC/ST, Ex-servicemen, If you are domiciled in State of Jammu and Kashmir Ten years Blindness and low vision, deaf and hard of hearing, locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy, autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability, mental illness and multiple disabilities including deaf blindness.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION The candidate must hold a degree, or possess an equivalent qualification to fulfil the eligibility criteria for IAS Candidates who have appeared or intend to appear for the qualifying examination and are awaiting results are also eligible to appear for the Preliminary Examination. Candidates who have passed the final year of MBBS or any Medical Examination but are yet to complete the internship can also appear for the Main Examination.
