  1. Quadrilateral Unit A Five Day Quadrilateral Unit: Includes; Activities, Guided Power Point, Task Cards, In depth thinking, and an assessment

  2. 5 Day Geometry Unit Includes the following: • Slides 3-23: Day One: Slides 3-18 includes a guided geometry lesson in which different types of quadrilaterals and their properties are introduced. Slides 19-23 contain a Quadrilateral booklet for students to keep. As you are discussing the quadrilaterals and their properties, students can record them and practice drawing them in their own quadrilateral booklet. To use, cut down the dotted line in the middle of the page and staple together to make a book. • Slides 24-31: Day Two: Property sort. Students will break into partners or small groups. They will take the 8 polygons on slides 26 and 27. They will then cut out the pictures and attributes of the polygons on pages 28 and 29 and place them under the correct polygon on pages 26 and 27. They will also have a reflection piece where they will write about their findings. • Slides 32-46: Day Three: Task Cards. Students will break into small groups or partners and complete the geometry task cards on the quadrilaterals and polygons. A recording sheet and answer card has been included. • Slides 47-51: Day Four: Comparing and contrasting quadrilaterals. Students will cut out quadrilaterals and choose 2 to compare and contrast. They will then take a venn diagram card and compare the 2 using the venn diagram. They will complete at least 5 diagram cards and the writing/reflecting activity at the end of day 4. • Slides 52 and 53: Geometry Assessment: Students will review the terms and quadrilaterals and then take an assessment on what they have learned.

  3. Quadrilaterals Day 1: Guided lesson. Use the power point presentation on slides 3-17 to introduce quadrilaterals. While you are introducing the quadrilaterals, have students take notes and complete their quadrilateral book on slides 18-22.

  10. Record in your Quadrilateral Book Trapezoid Properties: Only ONE set of parallel sides. When proving if a figure is a trapezoid, it is necessary to prove that it has 2 sides that are parallel and 2 sides that are not.

  11. Record in your Quadrilateral Book Parallelogram Properties: Has Two sets of parallel sides. Two sets of sides that are the same length. Opposite angles are the same.

  12. Record in your Quadrilateral Book Rectangle Properties: 4 Right Angles, 2 sets of parallel sides, 2 sets of sides are the same length

  13. Record in your Quadrilateral Book Rhombus Properties: 4 Right Angles, 4 equal sides, 2 sets of parallel sides

  24. Day 2: Property Sort Review quadrilaterals from day one. Briefly introduce pentagons and hexagons. Break students into partners. Have them cut the cards on slides 25 and 26. Students will read the properties on each card and place them under the correct shape on slides 23 and 24.

Students will choose 2 Quadrilaterals at a time. Using the Venn Diagram Cards, compare and contrast their angles, sides, parallel lines, etc. Complete at least 5 cards. Then, complete the writing/reflecting activity on 2 quadrilaterals of your choice.
