  2. Taiwan tourism Johan Svennung Introduction Taiwan has perfect conditions to attract foreign tourists. Except for that the do not have the necessary experience at the moment to develop their tourist industry. However, efforts has been made to increase the tourism. This year the Deaflymics will be held in Taipei, which may have a big promoting impact to the country. Improvements in infrastructure has also been made, with the High Speed Rail. Just recently they opened their market for the Chinese tourist. This might have a huge impact on their future tourist intensiveness.

They have published a flagship list, with attractive tourist spots in Taiwan. • Lonely planet • One of the most famous travelers guide. Provides information about many spots, but does not rank them in university students perspective. • Other sources • Local places in Taiwan provides their own tourist information. These can be hard to find, it one does not know what to look for.

  6. Taiwan tourism Johan Svennung The best tourist spots in Taiwan for university students are • Taipei, Museums, shopping, hot springs and close to nature. Here there are so many things to do. Modern facilities with good infrastructure. • Alishan, not to far nor expensive with where one comes really close to the nature, and offers an adventure with the historical train ride as well. • Taroko Gorge, This pearl might take some hours to get to, but finally there, the total contrast from home together with the scenic sites makes it easy to relax and have fun. • Kenting, Adventure, nature, beaches and hot springs. Kenting offers many activities. Between 2 to 3 transfers and half a day go get there. • Hualien, not far from Taroko Gorge is this place. The atmosphere on the east coast is different from the • Tainan, some hours south from Hsinchu is this old city. Nice night market, historical sites and picturesque neighbor cities makes this place forth to visit. • Kaoshung, the second biggest city in Taiwan has also many historical sites. Love river and night market. Takes a couple of hours to get there. • Yilan, atmospheric city with hot springs and a recommended night market. One transfers from Hsinchu by train and bus. • Sun moon lake, the inner of Taiwan has a lot of scenic sites and beautiful villages. Aborigines lives here, and they are mostly willing to share their culture. • Hotsprings, wherever in Taiwan. About one hour from Hsinchu by car or taxi, up in the mountains. Easy to get for an afternoon.
