  1. Yes, You Can Do it and More! Madina Akhmetshina

  2. Contents • A bit of recap of Session 1 • Difference between conscious and unconscious mind • Automatic thoughts • Responsibility • Ways to increase the number of positive emotions • Goal-setting • Videos from Experts

  3. Review of Session 1 • What would you dare to dream if you knew you couldn’t fail? • How impossible are your dreams? Meir Schneider http://www.mv-voice.com/news/show_story.php?id=4680 Barry and Suzi Kaufman http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20066254,00.html • Fears and how to deal with them?

  4. Greatest Discovery • “You become what you think about most of the time” Earl Nightingale

  5. Consc. Vs Unconsc. Mind Conscious mind, which decided whether to accept or decline the incoming information Subconscious mind, which takes the accepted information as undisputable truth and creates thoughts/emotions/behavior/observations in a matter consistent with this belief

  6. Consc. Vs Unconsc. Mind (2) • Again, You become what you think about most of the time • What thoughts are you accepting by your conscious mind? • The Law of Cause and effect vs. The law of accident. Your thoughts are causes and events are the effects • What are your dominant thoughts? • It’s hard to tell because they are mostly run on autopilot. • Exercise 1. How to notice them?

  7. Exercise 1 • When you complain (for now you are encouraged to do it), what meaning do you attribute to the events? How do you explain them? THESE are your automatic thoughts, or some other authors call, negative beliefs, or counter-intentions • Example: conscious thought – I want to be rich, unconscious – money is the root of all evil, rich people are greedy, money corrupts; • These almost unnoticeable ideas will prevent you from being rich, not the reality or the surrounding circumstances. Otherwise, how would people become self-made billionaires? • Question these beliefs!

  8. Can you make someone do push-ups for you? 100% responsibility for your success, for your current situation. Next time something irritating happens, ask yourself, what did I do/say/not say/not do to create that? How did I make this person act this way? what am I going to do differently next time so that to get the results that I want? Responsibility

  9. Why? • The more responsibility you accept, the more control you feel over your life, and consequently the more positive emotions you experience. • Life is about having the maximum positive emotions in the shortest period of time.

  10. Responsibility How?

  11. First, let’s understand where do negative emotions come from. Negative emotions are the biggest obstacles towards achievement. But the good news are that all of them contain one element, which, when stopped, dissolves the negative emotions. It is BLAME! The law of replacement: You can hold only one thought at a time. Replace any blame or negative emotion by repeating: “I am responsible!”, even though it might be hard in the beginning. You cannot accept responsibility and be angry at the same time Try it! Responsibility

  12. Another Method • 2nd method, applicable when you are blaming and resenting and deeply believe that you are entitled to this emotions, write Joe Vitale: “Thank You” letter • It is always easier to forgive someone you are thankful to, even for ridiculous reason. • You must forgive, because this is a hallmark of the mental health. However, it does not mean you have to like them or to engage with these people. You must do it for yourself, otherwise you will be riding a car on the emergency breaks, you will move but with exhausting process. You CAN let it go. • Three groups of people you must forgive: • Your parents, • everybody else, • yourself.

  13. Forgiving • Remember! • You always act to the best of the knowledge available to you, and you and any other person acts what he/she thinks is right, or rationalized to some degree. Nobody does something they think is wrong. We always act to the best of our knowledge at THAT time. Try to understand it. And forgive and move forward. • If you cannot do with the blame for yourself – same thing: write a “Thank you” or “I am sorry letter” to yourself.

  14. Goals – moving without them

  15. Goals – moving with them 

  16. Goal Setting • Successful people think about their goals all the time • Basic ruler – the simpler they sound to you, the better • 3Ps: • Present • Personal • Positive

  17. Present • Every morning and evening, for 1 week write down your goals in any sphere. They should be in the present tense: unconscious mind only understands the commands in the “now”; • e.g. Not “i will work for...”, I “work for...” • OR choices method: “I choose to work for...” it will be more acceptable

  18. Personal • personal – it always has to begin with “I” • I get promoted… • And NOT “My boss promotes me”

  19. Positive • without the word “not”, “un-”: our mind cannot concentrate on the absence of something • e.g. NOT “i will lose 5 kilos”, but • “I weigh...”

  20. Last thing about the goals • How to find out what do you want? • Take a look at what you are complaining about, or what you don’t want to happen and construct an opposite intention. • Repeat each of these 10 goals 5 times after you write it, and notice what it feels like to achieve them. • Scientific proof for efficiency of writing goals • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEabJ4LIc6Q&feature=feedlik

  21. Videos • How to stay energetic throughout the day • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unQTspZrWyQ • How to stay motivated • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_ZHffLn7u8

  22. Next Session • Reviewing goal-setting • Increasing creativity and productivity
