Oppo launched its new smartphone, the Oppo R17 Pro, in India in December of 2018 but a lot about the product was known even before its arrival. It was rumored that the OnePlus 6T would be based on the design of this phone, and there are a lot of similarities between the two phones. The hardware is the only difference.

  1. Description Oppo launched its new smartphone, the R17 Pro, in India in December of 2018 but a lot about the product was known even before its arrival. It was rumored that the OnePlus 6T would be based on the design of this phone, and there are a lot of similarities between the two phones. The hardware is the only difference. Priced at Rs. 45,990, the Oppo R17 Pro stands tall against its powerful competitors, even against the flagships such as Samsung.

  2. Design Oppo R17 Pro was one the first smartphone to introduce multicolor gradient finishes. Even the metal frame is finished in a color gradient, which gives the phone a cool look. At the front, the Oppo R17 Pro sports a 6.4-inch display with a waterdrop notch at the top. The earpiece is moved above the selfie camera and towards the frame. The Oppo R17 Pro sports an in-display fingerprint scanner like the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. The sensor is located beneath the display, just above the capacitive navigation buttons. Oppo has positioned the power button on the right side while the volume buttons are on the left. At the bottom of the Oppo R17 Pro are the USB Type-C port, speaker grill, and primary microphone, while a secondary microphone is at the top and the headphone jacks are missing. The camera module is at the center of the back which comprises of a dual camera setup along with 3D sensors. There's also a dual- LED flash under it. The phone is 7.9mm thick and is curved on the sides for comfortable hold.

  4. Display The Oppo R17 Pro has a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 2340 x 1080 resolution which makes it one of the larger displays in the market. It’s plenty sharp, and text and graphics are crisp and comfortable to read. The display is surrounded by extremely thin bezels and the notch is very tiny which gives the phone an impressive 91.5 percent screen-to-body ratio. The notch on the Oppo R17 Pro is the same waterdrop design similar to the one on the Huawei Mate 20. The notch is this small because it only houses the camera and the proximity and light sensors are hidden underneath the display. There’s still an earpiece in the shape of a tiny slit on the outer bezel which is more attractive and eats up a lot less screen. One of the coolest features in the display are the fingerprint sensors. The fingerprint sensors are an in- display sensors which is well hidden beneath the screen.

  6. Camera The OPPO R17 Pro has 3-camera setup, those are a 12MP, a 20MP, and a TOF 3D sensor lens. The AI features automatically detects the environment you’re in and tries to give the optimal settings. You can definitely take some great pictures with the main camera thanks to this, but the biggest attraction are the pictures taken in low light. As long as there's a small amount of light, pictures look a lot brighter and clearer compared to most smartphones. The front facing camera is a is a regular camera with an amazing 25 MP lens for f2.0 aperture which can take some amazing photos.

  8. Performance The performance on the Samsung Galaxy M30 has one of the best deliveries in any mid-range smartphone. The chipset on M30 is a Samsung Exynos 7 Octa 7904. It has a Mali-G71 MP2 for the graphics, which a mid-tier graphics you can find. The processor for M30 is an Octa core (1.8 GHz, Dual core, Cortex A73 + 1.6 GHz, Hexa-Core, Cortex A53). The addressing provided on this phone is a 64-bit and the Ram provided are 4 GB. The M30 come with Android 8.1 (Oreo) but updates to Android 9.0 (Pie) as soon as the phone is booted. The UI on M30 is the latest OneUI form the Samsung. M30 managed to attain a sore of 7.7 in the quality score.

  10. Battery The R17 Pro has dual 1850mAh batteries that totals up to a capacity of 3700mAh. It offers good battery life up to 14 hours. Reviewers claim that they still ended the day with around 45 percent left with the full usage throughout the day. The Super VOOC Flash Charger is capable of charging an empty battery in 35 minutes flat. It managed to charge the phone to 57 percent in 15 minutes and 95 percent in 30 minutes. The battery is a Li-Polymer and also supports wireless charging.
