  3. Water • Our bodies are made 2/3 of water. • It can help transport nutrients. • It can help our digestive system. • We need 6-8 (8 ounce) glasses of water daily.

  4. Carbohydrates Why do I need it? Where can I get it? • Carbohydrates give your body energy! • Carbohydrates should make up 60% of daily caloric intake. • Pasta • Fruits • Vegetables • Peas • Beans

  5. Fats • Fats are composed of building blocks called fatty acids. There are 3 categories of fatty acids: Saturated Fats, Polyunsaturated Fats, and Monosaturated Fats.

  7. Protein What does it do? What types of proteins? • It provides your body with energy. • Protein helps build strong muscles. • It breaks down into amino acids, which are the building blocks of all protein. • Complete Proteins • Incomplete Proteins

  8. Proteins Complete Proteins Incomplete Proteins Complete proteins contain lots of amino acids. We can find them here: • Meat • Fish • Poultry • Eggs • Milk Incomplete proteins only contain some essential amino acids. They are found: • In a variety of foods! • Grains • Vegetables
