  3. Pros Bagging ice in-store is more profitable than buying ice. The ice company can’t keep up with seasonal demand. Ice has no price elasticity. You can mark it up to whatever the traffic will bear. Cons Bagging is too labor-intensive. Bagging is drudgery. Scooping ice can cause repetitive motion injuries. If the ice machine harvests while an operator is bagging, injuries can occur. Health department does endorse scooping ice from bins. Demand is seasonal in most areas.
