  1. Some Other PlaceHunger exists everywhere in America. It does not matter if you live in a urban, suburban or rural setting - hunger has no boundaries. By: Mrs. Gilmore

  2. Why Some Other Place? 1. Hunger is a real problem. • According to the Feeding America,1 out of 6 kids in America do not know where their next meal will come from. • 1 in every 4 children in Texas do not know where their next meal will come from. • Food insecurity is associated with • lower scores on physical and mental health exams • increased risk of developing diabetesand heart disease.

  3. Why Some Other Place? 2. Contributions directly affect local people • Founded in 1968 by local community members for residents of the Beaumont area. • When no one could help, they were told to go find some other place, thus the name Some Other Place was formed.

  4. Why Some Other Place? • “Services are provided with no charge to recipients.” • Meals on Wheels Program • Back to School Program • John Terry Moore Thanksgiving Store • Christmas "Giving Tree" Program

Why Some Other Place? • S.O.P. is funded solely by donations from concerned people and staffed by hundreds of volunteers. . . people who are "putting there faith to work.“ • Hunger isn’t prejudice, anyone and everyone can be affected. $1 can feed up to 4 meals to people in our community. http://setxfoodbank.org/hunger-is-here/
