Objectives By the end of this lesson, students will be able to: • Define transportation technology. • Identify and describe the four modes of transportation
Definition. Any technology that is used to relocate people and/or goods. Transportation is one of the three basic areas of technology common to all societies. Vehicle. A powered carrier that supports, protects, and moves cargo or people within a transportation system. Transportation Technology
Modes of Transportation • Land or terrestrial • Water or marine • Air or atmospheric • Space
Land Transportation • Any technology that moves people or goods on the surface of or under the earth. May be vehicular or stationary. • On lined paper list as many forms of land transportation you can think of in two minutes.
