Matthew 4:12-2

13. Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area ofZebulun and Naphtali––
15. “Land of Zebulun, land of Naphtali,on the road by the sea, across the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles--
16. the people who sat in darknesshave seen a great light,and for those who sat in the region and shadow of deathlight has dawned.”
17 from that time jesus began to proclaim repent for the kingdom of heaven has come near
17. From that time Jesus began to proclaim, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”

18. As he walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea--for they were fishermen.


21. As he went from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John, in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets, and he called them.


23. Jesus a went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and curing every disease and every sickness among the people.

    • Who is most likely to communicate?
  • Makes a difference WHEN you fish
    • When are they most receptive?
  • Makes a difference HOW you “fish”
    • Rod or Net
    • “Bait”
  • Used with a large quantity of people
  • Evangelists
    • Like Billy Graham
  • Marketing campaigns
  • Camp
  • Revivals
  • Special Church services
    • Ie Christmas and Easter


  • Individual
  • Small Group
  • Develop relationships from relationships

People are more likely to stay!

  • Sometimes they just “eat the bait”
  • Has to be offered in good faith!
    • In other words you can’t manipulate
    • You can’t get angry of get your feelings hurt if they don’t want it
  • If one doesn’t work . . . Try another!
