  3. Part 107 Applies to • Civil small unmanned aircraft systems within the United States, specifically… • The Registration of UAVs • The Airmen Certification of UAV Pilots • The Operationof UAVs

  4. Part 107 Does Not Apply To • Pilots granted a Part 333 exemption • Aircraft that follow under Part 101 • Air carrier operations or public aircraft operations

  5. The Part 333 Exemption • A petition for exemption from a current regulation • Including Part 107 • Can take over 6 months to get approval from FAA

  6. Aircraft Falling Under Part 101 • Model Aircraft • Amateur Rockets • Moored Balloons • Unmanned Free Balloons • Kites

  7. Notes About Model Aircraft • Must be flown for recreation or as a hobby • Must be flown safely per recommendations • Must weigh less than 55 pounds (can get approval for heavier) • Must not interfere with manned aircraft • Must give right of way to manned aircraft • Must notify ATC if flown within 5 miles of airport
