  2. The Sun • The Sun’s surface is much cooler than it’s atmosphere . • Why is the Sun hot? • The Sun was born in a vast cloud of gas and dust. • The Sun’s surface temp is 10,000F. • The Sun is made up of hot, glowing gases.

  3. Mercury • A whole year to Mercury is 88 days. • How hot is Mercury? • Mercury is just a little larger than Earth’s moon. • Mercury has no atmosphere. • Inside: Large Cool Iron Core.

  4. Venus • Venus is the hottest planet in the Solar System. • Venus is known as the Morning Star and the Evening Star. • Venus is the closest neighbor to the Earth. • Why can the surface of Venus not be photographed from space? • Inside: Nickle Iron, Silicate.

  5. Earth • Earth has a moon named Luna. • To orbit around the Sun once it takes Earth 365.3 days. • Earth is the biggest of all terrestrial planets. • How did Earth form? • Inside: Nickle Iron, Silicate .

  6. Mars • Mars has the largest canyon in the Solar System. • Mars has a very thin atmosphere . • It would take about 6 months for a spacecraft to get to Mars. • What happened to the water on Mars? • Inside: Nickle Iron, Silicate.
