These pieces of lab furniture are some of the most important for your lab because you’ll do most of your work using them. You may be tempted to go out and get the cheapest option but that’s not a great idea. A quality laboratory cabinet can not only make work more enjoyable, but also cost you less over time. Finding the Right Laboratory Cabinet Because a laboratory cabinet plays such an important role in storing the chemicals you work with, it’s important to invest in good ones. Of course, you can always store your chemicals in any old cabinet, but it could slow your workflow and cause injury. To start, a good lab cabinet should be made of metal. Metal lab cabinets are simply more durable than their wooden counterparts. Not only that, you’ll have a more difficult time cleaning wooden lab cabinets. Metal cabinets are easier to clean and disinfect because of their impermeable surfaces, something that improves safety. Metal cabinets also are built to last. Over time, wooden cabinets can become unstable, which could lead to disaster. It may be hard to not cry over spilt milk, but it’s almost impossible to not cry over spilt chemicals. An investment in a metal lab cabinet may seem like a large upfront cost.
