  5. Historians and archaeologists have used the birth of Jesus as the event from which we mark time. • BC stands for Before Christ • AD stands for Anno Domini a latin phrase meaning “in the year of our Lord” 0 500 BC 300 300 100 100 500 AD Jesus is born

  6. Since not all people are Christians, some archaeologists prefer to use the terms: • BCE = Before the Common Era • CE = Common Era • *They are exactly the same as B.C. and A.D. but have nothing to do with Christianity. 0 500 BCE 300 300 100 100 500 CE

Now it is your turn to make a timeline… • Your timeline can be about you or someone important to you. • Remember these rules for your timeline • Years and events must be labeled in the correct order • It must be easy to read (neat) • Represent periods of time in a PROPORTIONALLY accurate way • Use of color and pictureswithout overdoing it • Make sure you leave some blank space between events to make it easy to read.
