  1. Abortion By: Elisha Marks Autumn Bone & Shane Moore

  2. Description Abortion-the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus: as. If you were to get pregnant, an alternative choice is to put your child up for adoption. Kids that go out and have intercourse should not be allowed to have an abortion, because they went out and did what they did. Condoms prevent pregnancy, but only have a 97% of having the it protect against pregnancy. Condoms also prevent STD’s being spread. Abortion happens legally and illegally all over the world. My group and I agree that we abortion is cruel and usual. The 8th constitutional right says “Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and usual punishments inflicted” (The American Nation, 2005). We gathered thoughts and came up with the conclusion that if it is not right to kill someone when they are alive and fully developed, what makes it right to take a life that is not fully grown?

  3. Scope of the Problem This is a national problem, but we are going to level it on a state problem. We don’t want to outlaw abortion, but only cut it down. The rates for abortion are higher in 2005 than in 1973. this is because young adults and even older adults are carefree. Pregnancy is not a joke anymore.

  4. Affected people? A LOT of people are affected in an abortion situation. One, you are killing an unborn child. Parents, grandparents, and intercourse partner are affected because you don’t have a family to carry on. In other cases, like a rape cases, children should have a say, because they didn’t do it intentionally. These children were forced to have someone mess with their bodies.

  5. Root Cause Poverty Low self-esteem Contraption fails Social conditioning Drug abuse Alcohol abuse Lack of Chastity Promiscuity Immorality Naivety Men Sexual exploitation of women Rape Incest

  6. Abortion Statistics (USA) • Who’s having abortion at what age? -52% of women obtaining abortions in the U.S. are younger than 25: Women aged 20-24 obtain 32% of all abortions; Teenagers obtain 20% and girls under 15 account for 1.2%. • Who's having abortions race? - While white women obtain 60% of all abortions, their abortion rate is well below that of minority women. Black women are more than 3 times as likely as white women to have an abortion, and Hispanic women are roughly 2 times as likely. • Who's having abortions income?-Women with family incomes less than $15,000 obtain 28.7% of all abortions; Women with family incomes between $15,000 and $29,999 obtain 19.5%; Women with family incomes between $30,000 and $59,999 obtain 38.0%; Women with family incomes over $60,000 obtain 13.8%. • (http://www.abortionno.org/Resources/fastfacts.html ) • Abortion is a common experience: At current rates, about one in three American women will have had an abortion by the time she reaches age 45. Moreover, a broad cross section of U.S. women have abortions. 58% of women having abortions are in their 20s; 61% have one or more children; 85% are unmarried; 69% are economically disadvantaged; and 73% report a religious affiliation. No racial or ethnic group makes up a majority: 36% of women obtaining abortions are white non-Hispanic, 30% are black non-Hispanic, 25% are Hispanic and 9% are of other racial backgrounds. • (http://www.guttmacher.org/pubs/sfaa/delaware.html )

  7. Solution The only people that would have the ability to have an abortion should be the people that have been raped or if recommended by doctor. Many people have babies and then when they feel they don’t have the finances they have an abortion. People shouldn’t be allowed to have an abortion they should put the baby up for adoption. The government should provide financial aid for people 17 and younger this will reduce the rates of abortions.

  8. Best Solution The best solution would be to put their baby up for adoption. Some people may say that they cannot give up their baby that they have carried for 9 months, then delivered, but it is better than taking a life.

  9. Letter!!!! Dear Representative Danny Short & Robert Venables, Abortion is a “normal” procedure that happens around us every day; however, many people are affected by this everyday matter. Abortion is the removal of the embryo or fetus from the uterus in order to end a pregnancy at 12-21 weeks. Some people may compare this to a miscarriage, but they have two completely different meanings. A miscarriage is the spontaneous end of a pregnancy at a stage where the embryo or fetus is incapable of surviving independently. In other words, a miscarriage is not intentional, but an abortion is completed intentionally. Did you know that 52% of the abortions in the U.S. are under the age 25? 32% of all the abortions are between the age of 20 and 24? Teenagers are accounted for 20% and girls under the age of 15 counts for 1.2%? My group and I do not wish to outlaw abortion, but to only cut the rate down. Abortion has root causes of this tragic happening. For example, poverty, low self-esteem, contraption fails, social conditioning, drug abuse, lack of chastity, promiscuity, immorality, naivety, men, sexual exploration of women and rape. In the rape cases, children do not allow people to do these things to their body, but are forced to let it happen. Adults that have graduated high school are curious and do not think that getting pregnant is something that will happen to them. These adults wish to go to college and have a life. They cannot do that with a child by their side 24/7. There is protection out there that can prevent pregnancy like a condom, birth control, and many other contraptions. The best solution would be to put their baby up for adoption. Some people may say that they cannot give up their baby that they have carried for 9 months, and then deliver the baby, but it is better than taking a life. My group and I agree that we abortion is cruel and unusual. The 8th constitutional right says “Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and usual punishments inflicted”. We gathered thoughts and came up with the conclusion that if it is not right to kill someone when they are alive and fully developed, what makes it right to take a life that is not fully grown? It is just not right. Thank you so very much for your time, and we hope you look in to this situation!!! Please write back with questions and concerns. We would love to hear from you!!!!
