  1. Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Dept. of Civil Engineering Research Unit of Soil Mechanics & Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering EUROSEISTEST ORFEUS/NERA Workshop on Seismic and Acceleration Networks, 12-14 November 2012, Istanbul, Turkey DATABASE AND WEB PORTAL K. Pitilakis, Z. Roumelioti, M. Manakou, D. Raptakis, K. Liakakis, A. Anastasiadis and D. Pitilakis Research Unit of Soil Dynamics and Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

  2. The EUROSEISTEST Initial Funding: EuroseisTest, 1993-1995 EuroseisMod, 1996-1999 EuroseisRisk, 2002-2005 Managed (K. Pitilakis): Research Unit of Soil Dynamics and Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering Cooperated with: ITSAK TESTSITE

  3. The EUROSEISTEST Facilities NE Stivos (STE) Profitis (PRO) TESTSITE NNW EuroProteas

  4. Spatial Distribution of Field Experiments

  5. Synthesis of 2D Cross Sections (N-S direction) From 1D soil profiles >>>> synthesis of the 2D N-S cross-section SSE NNW PRO N PRO TST STE TST STE

  6. Synthesis of 2D Cross Sections (N-S direction) From 1D soil profiles >>>> synthesis of the 2D N-S cross-section

  7. Synthesis of the 3D Geological Model for Site Effect Studies

  8. Primary Target: Organize, homogenize and disseminate strong motion data and relevant metadata gathered since the establishment of the EUROSEISTEST array (up to present: 191 recorded events, ~1000 waveforms) More specifically: • Organize strong motion data by event/station • Homogenize strong motion data in terms of orientation (NS-EW rotation) and polarity (positive input  positive output) • Update seismological metadata • Organize available geological/geophysical/geotecnical information and data • Provide open access to all sets of data through a dedicated web portal

  9. EUROSEISTEST Database Web Portal: http://euroseisdb.civil.auth.gr The EUROSEISTEST web portal and the application server running underneath are based solely on free and open source software (F/OSS; MySQL v5.5; RubyOnRails, SAC, Gnuplot and numerous GNU supporting utilities)

  10. General Information • Brief description of the test site facilities • Brief description of the current knowledge of the valley geology, tectonics, 2D and 3D structure • Full list of EUROSEISTEST related publications

  11. Database search query: Record, Event and Station based criteria Sets of search criteria can be used individually or in combination Results are listed at the bottom of the page and direct to more detailed information

  12. Eventdedicatedwebpage Stations that recorded the event (map allows dynamic selection) Earthquake epicenter • Available data: • Raw • Processed, unfiltered • Processed, filtered • Response Spectra Data available in SAC and ASCII

  13. Record Details: • Event Information • Selected parameters of engineering interest • Corners of the applied filter • Graphical presentation (acceleration, velocity and displacement time history plots, Fourier and response spectra and spectrogram)

  14. Station Dedicated webpage Epicenters of recorded events at the specific station Station Location View/Download metadata in ascii format

  15. Example station metadata (TST) Vs and Vp profile and Q factors at the center of the valley (location S1, TST site) estimated using different in-situ and laboratory techniques for the main geological formations (from A to G) of the site Interpretation of CPT tests: correction of CPT data, validation of classification scheme with borehole data (Euroseisrisk Project Final Report).

  16. Station information and site characterization metadata are also gathered in “Station Description Sheets”

  17. Ground motion acceleration waveforms statistics

  18. Some things to note: • Officially operating in a few weeks • Metadata accuracy • Willing to integrate our data in a European db Some things to do: • Maintain the EUROSEISTEST network • Upgrade (e.g. addition of GPS stations, permanently instrument EuroProteas) • Get data in real-time
