You are ready…. • Do you have working smartcards? • Are your nominations in a cupboard on paper – not on the spine? • Can you put your token in the printer the right way around? • To get smartcards, you need a sponsor – NHS England Process • Requests from sponsors for staff - UIM request, contact 0114 3051030 to book appointment • NHS Choices is the reference point for your pharmacy

  3. A script may arrive TODAY if NHS Choices shows you are ready… Most pharmacies are ready

  4. Or a patient might bring a prescription token for you to pull down from the spine barcode standard text will be printed in the signature box to prevent the prescriber from hand signing it

  8. Dispensing tokens • barcode standard text will be printed in the signature box to prevent it from being hand signed The GP may put messages on the counterfoil for the patient Sponsor with no card

  9. Key Contact Information: For Appointments in Bassetlaw Phone IT support 0114 3051030 to book appointment - generally Tuesday afternoon and Thursday Morning. Sessions are available at Doncaster / Barnsley and Sheffield on request. NHS England sign as the sponsor for sponsors

Smartcard Changes • UIM2 – is in development due Autumn 2014 –‘CareID’ but confirmation of this new name is yet to be agreed.  • Information from smartcards will be transferred to UIM2, ready for existing systems to be switched off in December. • Processes will need to be revised but e-learning training will be available from HSCIC to support sponsors.  • A communication plan is being developed by the Project Manager for UIM2 • Recommendation: Arrange smartcards now!

EPS CSU Deployment http://systems.hscic.gov.uk/eps/library/depmodel.pdf • Practice Expression of Interest • Obtain list of Pharmacy with 2% or more script flows • Arrange Kick off Meeting at Practice – practice invites pharmacies • Arrange follow up visits to Pharmacy on the “2% list” • Pharmacy gets ready • Confirm go live date with practice • Arrange business change to which Pharmacies should secure an invite. • Pharmacy continues to nominate patients, particularly those collecting repeats from five weeks before the go live date • Scripts sent by practice at Go live • We make sure receiving pharmacies process scripts

Talk to practices and encourage them to go live, Nominate their patients

Getting Ready - Pharmacy • Talk to practices – Talk to us – get invited • Check LPC Website has all the details • Find your sponsor • Ensure smartcards have the correct roles including nominating • Capture Patient Nominations • Scan barcoded paper scripts • Order your tokens - check stock regularly • Patient Communication - Leaflets/Posters/Window Stickers • Review available factsheets: www.hscic.gov.uk/systemsandservices/eps/dispensing/help • Schedule and agree system training – get system supplier to send a test script to test printing ideally before the rush!
