Using Euro Containers Makes A Great Deal Of Sense

Very many businesses use boxes and containers for storage of all sorts of different things. Some will use them solely for storage, while others may need to transport goods in them from, say, a manufacturing plant to their end customer.

  1. Using Euro Containers Makes A Great Deal Of Sense Huge numbers of businesses use boxes and containers for a multitude of different purposes. Some use them purely for storage purposes, such as keeping files and folders neatly in one place in an office. These may be stored by subject matter, the date when a certain action was carried out, a date in the future when they will be required again, and for many other reasons. Others use storage boxes to keep small parts in. So a manufacturer may produce a large number of small parts on a run on a machine that are going to be used to build a piece of equipment later. For example, the piece of equipment may only need, say, four of the small parts, but it is easier for reasons of economy to produce them in a run of perhaps 500 or 1,000 and then use them gradually as they are required. Of course, boxes and containers of all types are used to transport goods from one place to

  2. another. That same manufacturer may produce parts for a customer who actually builds something – a car, a computer, television, an electric cooker, or even something huge such as a crane -and obviously needs to transport the parts from its’ own factory to that of its’ customer. Parts can be large or small, and they can be tough or fragile. So if something fragile needs to be transported it has to be in a container which is designed, or fitted out in some way, so that the parts will be safe and secure during the journey. If you are simply transporting one box then it can be picked up and placed into a van very easily, unless it is extremely heavy. However, many people need to transport boxes and containers in quantity. They may also need to be stored. Now obviously, storage space comes at a premium. It costs money to store things for any length of time, so the less space that you have to use, the better. This is why you would want to store boxes and containers on top of each other and so use less space. You may also want to transport them the same way, so you might perhaps load them on to a pallet – again one on top of another – use a forklift to load the pallet on to a van or lorry and another to offload it at the destination.

  3. Boxes and other containers can, and do, come in a wide range of different sizes. Some have lids. Others are open. Many are made of plastic of one sort or another and this can be clear plastic so that you can easily identify the contents, or may not, because you don’t want anyone else to identify the contents. Other such containers may have ventilated sides because the products that are going to be stored or shipped require ventilation. However, when you are stacking or storing boxes and containers, it is going to be very difficult if they are all of different sizes, and this is why Euro containers came about. Euro containers are of a standard size length and width which is 600mm x 400mm, so every Euro container stacks neatly on top of another one. They will also stack in lots of four on a standard size Euro pallet which is 1200mm x 800mm or lots of five on a UK pallet which is 1200mm x 1000mm However, what happens if you are a manufacturer of very small parts and they don’t need such a large container? They could all be rolling about loose. Well the answer to that is a smaller container. You can get Euro containers in 400mm

  4. x 300mm and even 300mm x 200mm, which will also stack up on the 600mm x 400mm box in greater numbers, in the same way as the 600mm x 400mm containers will fit on to the standard pallets. If you need larger containers you can also get them in 800mm x 600mm. All of this makes a great deal of sense to minimise the costs of transport and storage and reduce handling. If you need to buy containers for your own business, you should make certain of getting the right sizes.
