  3. How we come to trust in Jesus Christ? What we are like by nature: Ephesians 2:1 A. Dead in trespasses and sins. Romans 8:7 the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. This is what we are like by nature! B. Enemies of God I Corinthians 2:14 C. Blind to God’s message, we think it is foolishness. Therefore we cannot by our own thinking or choosing come to believe in Jesus as our Savior.

  20. The Holy Christian Church is: People, not buildings. It is the whole number of believers everywhere. Ephesians 5:25-26 It is called… HOLY (or communion of saints) because its members have been cleansed of their sins by Jesus. I Corinthians 3:11 CHRISTIAN because it is built upon Jesus Christ I Peter 2:9-10 CHURCH because all believers are “called out” of darkness into God’s family.

  26. Hebrews 10:23-25 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching. It is God’s will that Christians assemble together around the Word and Sacraments. Christian Congregation = An assembly or gathering of people around the gospel. Matthew 13:47-50 Within any Christian congregation there may also be hypocrites. The Lord knows who they are. (But we don’t).
