  1. Russia • Hey my name is Farida, I am from Russia, but I am Turkish. • I am 14 years old. My birthday is on November 17. • I got 2 sisters, one older than me and one younger. I live with both my parents.

  2. Russia’s Flag • It has three equal horizontal colored rectangles, white on the top, blue in the middle,and red on the bottom.

  3. Food • Russia isn’t known for its food, but inside it’s borders, Russia has a rich culinary tradition.

  4. Chilled Russian Borscht • 2 pounds medium beets, peeled and quartered • 11 cups water • 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice • 2 tablespoons cider vinegar • Salt and freshly ground pepper • 1 medium Yukon Gold potato, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch cubes • 1 pound Kirby cucumbers—peeled, seeded and cut into 1/2-inch cubes • 1 cup finely diced radishes • 4 scallions, thinly sliced • 3 large hard-cooked eggs, peeled and coarsely chopped • 1/4 cup coarsely chopped dill • 1/4 cup coarsely chopped flat-leaf parsley

  5. My Goals ~ One of my goals is to finish High School and go to college. ~ I want to major in business. ~ I want to own my own house and cars. ~ I want to move to Chicago someday. ~

  6. Holiday: Ramadan ~ Fasting for 30 days ~Family gets together ~When people come to your house to eat, talk, and have a good time. ~Usually the kids get money from their parents, uncles, aunts, and other relatives.

  7. Why we celebrate Ramadan The month of Ramadan is talked about in the Quran. It teaches us about poor people and how to be thankful for what we have. Muslims believe when we practice Ramadan, Allah is happy and our lives will be blessed by him.
