  5. Terms & Conditions Winners are selected in three categories: Picture Books, Fiction and Poetry, and Nonfiction. An honorary mention is given to two additional books in each category. On certain instances, a book can receive a special notation for its quality and creativity. The winning book must have been published in the United States but can have been written or illustrated by citizens of any country.
