Conventional GC (Macro drawbacks) Life-time Reliability Reproducibility Calibration (s) Quantitation (ppm) Consumables Fast micro GC Cartridge (Micro advantages) System loading x10< IC derived manufacturing IC-based tolerances, QA/QC Highly controlled operating parameters (temperature, flow, etc.) Highly stable system performance Longer life-time, lower flow rates, Fast micro GC vs. conventional GCTechnical Features / Benefits Limited life-time (6 months) Extended life-time (2-5 years) smaller • faster • better • for less costs

  6. Conventional GC (Macro drawbacks) Requires skilled engineers Requires trained service-men Requires significant CapEx investment Fast micro GC Cartridge (Micro advantages) System pre-programmed Exchange of cartridge by laymen Does not require significant CapEx Enables innovative revenue model, from CapEx to OpEx budgets Fast micro GC versus conventional GCTechnical Features / Benefits Requires expert know how Complicates sales process Simplifies usage Simplifies sales process smaller • faster • better • for less costs

  7. C2V-200 micro GC C2V’s unique MEMS micro fluidics integration platform enables a world-class handheld chip-based GC instrument. → Fast analysis: 10-30 seconds → Handheld sized → Easy exchangeable GC channel cartridges → Low power system (< 15 W typical) → Low costs (decrease per increasing volume) → Excellent separation: N=10’000-25’000 → Operating up to 180 oC → Fast T ramping: 100 oC / minute → ppm sensitivity with TCD → Less carrier/reference gas (operational 1 ml/min.) → Diagnostics on chip: flow/pressure smaller • faster • better • for less costs

  8. C2V’s micro GC technology platform Chip technology Using micro technology to create low cost GC components (valves, injector, detector, column, flow system, heating, flow diagnostics) with low internal volume and low thermal mass Integration of chips Using a fluidic multi chip module for integration of these chip components in a fluidic system with low dead volume connections Cartridge The fluidic system module is assembled on an exchangeable cartridge that contains the core GC functionality smaller • faster • better • for less costs

  9. GC Components: chips technology Micro Injector: • Channel array chip • Membrane valves • Pneumatic actuation Micro TCD Detector: • ppm sensitivity • ms response Silicon columns: • Fast heating • Integration on-chip Capillary columns: • Commercial available • Opt. geometry smaller • faster • better • for less costs

  10. Fast GC Cartridge C2V fast GC easy exchangeable cartridge (2” x 3.5” x 0.6”) contains: • Injector and sample loop • TCD detector • Column • Heating (2 zones) C2V-200 micro GC module (3” x 4.5” x 1.2”) contains: • Easy exchangeable cartridge • Gas tight cartridge package • Read-out & control electronics • Pneumatics hardware • Connectors (gas & data & power) smaller • faster • better • for less costs

  11. Fast GC Cartridges smaller • faster • better • for less costs

  12. Fast GC Cartridges GCC1000 separation is almost entirely based on boiling points making this cartridge suitable for a wide range of applications. Typical components: alcohols, esters, flavors and aromas, free fatty acids, glycols, hydrocarbons, ketones, organic acids, oxygenates, PAHs, pesticides, polymers, steroids, solvents, sulfur compounds. GCC1010 elutes polar compounds as perfectly symmetrical peaks, allowing them to be analyzed together with light hydrocarbons or permanent gases. Typical components: halogenated compounds, hydrocarbons C1-C6, H2S, ketones, oxygenated hydrocarbons, permanent gases/solvents. GCC1020 provides optimal selectivity for many aqueous soluble compounds. Typical components: BTEX, methanol, alcohols, aromatic hydrocarbons, esters, FAME, flavors and aromas, free fatty acids, glycols, halogenated compounds, ketones, organic acids and solvents. GCC1030 (molecular-sieve coated capillary column) is especially valuable when separating permanent gases. Typical gases separated with the GCC1030 include: He, H2, O2, CO, Ne, HD, N2, NO, Ar, D2, CH4, KrHT, X3, DT, CD4, Rn, T2. GCC1040 separates N2, O2, CO, CO2 and C1-C2 hydrocarbons. Typical gases separated by the GCC1040 include: He, Xe, CO, Ne, CH4, CO2, O2/Ar, C2H6, N2, C2H4, Kr and C2H2 smaller • faster • better • for less costs
