  1. - Present: Ahern, Flesch, Frew, Gomez, Habermann, Kreemer, Murray, Sandwell Absent: Gomez, Pritchard - Original Face-to-Face meeting canceled. Still have not met in person. GDS AC Okt 15, 2013, Telecon

  2. Government Shutdown - The committee compliments GDS for being proactive in creating a procedure of shutting down services in case of a continuing shutdown with minimal impact till last resort. - UNAVCO should post on their website (and unav-all?) the details of this plan as soon as possible (coming Friday?). Community should also be informed on what will happen when services return. - GDS should anticipate that some servers may not start again after being shut down. GDS AC Okt 15, 2013, Telecon

  3. Digital Object Identifier (DOI) Implementation - The committee compliments GDS for starting to create DOI's for campaign GPS data sets and continuous stations. For the latter, it should be clear to the user that the DOI needs to be supplemented with the data period. Data Authentication White Paper - The committee thanks GDS for taking our previous comments into consideration. - Given that campaign GPS data is the only data set not being mirrored, and given that (mis)use of those data is of greatest concern to the committee, the committee supports GDS's proposal to fore-go authentication and to instead expand the procedure of request form & PI notification to all campaign data. Not all PI's may want it, but a quarterly email should not be a burden In this process the PI should be told to have a proper DOI in place - The combination of a DOI system and this “authentication” of campaign data is deemed sufficient and at a minimum burden to the GDS to implement. 4. GAGE - This committee compliments GDS in getting GAGE off the ground, for having been proactive in not filling previous vacancies, and for keeping the impacts of the cuts to a minimum GDS AC Okt 15, 2013, Telecon

  5. New Proposals - This committee compliments GDS on thinking ahead to fund TLS and SAR activities. - Details on those plans should really reside in the TIGWIG and WinSAR committees - GDS should also think about more diverse funding sources. This may particularly apply to fund the reduced RT activities. - The fact that 55% of RT users are in the commercial sector should provoke some rethinking on the RT funding model GDS AC Okt 15, 2013, Telecon

  6. Next Meeting - The committee agrees with having the next face-to-face meeting with the upcoming UNAVCO Science Workshop in March, 2014 - The committee suggests a “break-out session” in which the community can interact with GDS program directors and discuss and comment on any GDS issues: DOI, Authentication, High-Rate GPS..... Such session would also help this committee to get a better idea on what lives in the community - Committee is okay with having a few telecons throughout the year in addition to face-to-face meeting. That way the face-to-face doesn't have to be too long, and can be more easily fit alongside the UNAVCO or EarthScope Science workshops GDS AC Okt 15, 2013, Telecon
