  2. Preterite Verbs • Preterite means “past tense” • Preterite verbs deal with “completed past action” • The ending tells who did the action.

  3. -AR Preterite Endings • Just as -o, -as, -a, -amos, -áis, -an tell you that the action takes place in the present, -é, -aste, -ó, -amos, asteis, -aron, tell you that the action took place in the past.
